Ellen and Barrett’s love story is one of patient, understanding love. What better time to highlight a romance like this, with Valentine’s Day on the imminent horizon?!
After knowing each other peripherally in middle school and high school at ESD, the two unwittingly went their separate ways for college. Ellen ventured off to TCU, and Barrett to the Airforce Academy. After two years of living out-of-sight and in turn, out-of-mind, they ran into each other at a mutual friend’s house over Thanksgiving. After a bit of catching up, they were on their way to their first date just a couple of days later.
It didn’t take long for the two to see the significance of their connection. By Christmas break, they had made the decision to not only date, but to commit to a long distance relationship for the following semester, as Ellen departed for a study abroad program in Spain.
After Barrett proposed to Ellen in 2019, they began planning a wedding for April of the following year. Before too long, though, it was clear that their party planning efforts would need to be put on hold in 2020. However, Ellen and Barrett didn’t have a desire to put off marriage any further, and sought out a courthouse union on their original wedding date, 4/25/20. Just after Barrett had returned from a 9 month deployment in South Korea, the two were officially declared Captain and Mrs. Anigian over speakerphone, by a Judge who officiated close-by in her car. Ellen wore a knee-length Carolina Herrera dress and carried a petite bouquet, as the two held hands in a nearby gazebo and were pronounced man and wife.
The alternate wedding celebration date was set for January of 2021, right after Barrett would be returning from Ranger School. Alas, after an unforeseen hinderance, Barrett’s graduation was delayed, and the planning process was once again put on hold. Life happens, and these newlyweds were supportive and steadfast every step of the way. Delay after delay, curveballs and all, the development of their marriage itself was the focus of this season of life, and the party, an added bonus.
After two previous dates were set and then scratched, Ellen and Barrett finally got the opportunity to celebrate their union with loved ones this past January, 2022. Although the original plans had changed, the intent of this gathering was just as celebratory and anticipatory, if not more-so.
Wearing a strapless Lela Rose gown, Ellen finally had the chance to walk down the aisle arm in arm with her father. The couple’s blessing of the marriage concluded with a saber arch during the recessional. This detail was important to them both, as Ellen wanted to honor Barrett’s service in this traditional way.
Winter white was the reception, with the DCC looking as regal and prominent as ever. The eagerness to celebrate these two was completely palpable in the ballroom, as their loved ones had waited so long! The couple relished the time they got to spend together, in the presence of each of their families. We could not have been more honored to have been a part of this amazing couple’s beautiful celebration. Wishing the Anigians nothing but the best!
