Oh, What a Plumlee Day for Catherine and Daniel

By Mary Welch

Oh, what a Plumlee day it was one year ago on March 23, 2019! Catherine Branch and Daniel Plumlee wed last Spring and we cannot believe it’s already time to say, “Happy Anniversary!” The couple owes two joint family vacations for their love story, which began at ages 16 (Catherine) and 17 (Daniel). Back to back, their families happened to be on the same European boat trip and visiting a family estate in New York together. Fast forward to 2017, Daniel proposed to Catherine and the two began planning a beautiful Dallas wedding day.

Catherine use to work for Former First Lady Barbara Bush and was gifted one of her “BPB” handkerchiefs from Former First Lady Laura Bush to carry on wedding day. Catherine slipped the handkerchief on her bouquet as a memorable ‘something old’ to carry with her Sareh Nouri gown. Catherine and her maids got ready at the Branch home before pre-wedding ceremony portraits at HPUMC. The large wedding party, including an adorable young flower girl who didn’t let go of Catherine’s hand, paraded and posed through the church courtyard before filing into the sanctuary for the ceremony.

Catherine and Daniel did not have a ‘first look’ so their eyes met for the first time as Catherine came down the wedding aisle. The ceremony was the most important part of wedding day for the couple, which showed in emotion as they took their vows to one another and came down the church aisle as husband and wife!

Just outside the chapel doors, the couple beamed with joy. They walked the blooming church paths together, in a rare private moment, before re-joining the wedding party. Friends and family met the couple at President George W. Bush Library for dinner and dancing following the ceremony. Catherine’s relationship with the Bush family made this venue choice sentimental and special. The library courtyard was tented overhead and classic, garden elements were incorporated into the design like a black and white checkered dance floor, classic spring floral arrangements, and a boxwood wall behind the band. The reception was beautiful, but the couple desired to emphasize merriment and dancing reflecting their lively spirit towards the celebration. After a joyous day and evening, the new Mr. and Mrs. Plumlee drove off in a vintage car away to their honeymoon!
