Outdoor Autumn Equinox

Project Description

When friends come together to celebrate the end of the summer season and the beginning of fall, the perfect setting is an alfresco dinner party. At the end of September, guests gathered on the lawn of a private home to enjoy the warm weather and commemorate seeing each other for the Autumn Equinox.

The elegant, yet laid-back, celebration featured a single long table strewn with a blue linen and positioned between two trees. Strings of twinkling café lights provided ambient overhead lighting as guests found their seats atop translucent Ghost chairs, which blended seamlessly with the décor and reflected the romantic lighting of the evening. Centerpieces showcased crate-style boxes holding burgundy and fuchsia blooms including roses, orchids, and carnations, as well as candlelight and single orange roses placed nearby in cylindrical glass vessels.

To honor the outdoor setting and autumnal nature of the celebration, each guest’s place setting was marked with a wood slice charger and refined gold flatware. Menu selections, including butternut squash soup with a seared scallop, were printed on circular cards featuring guest names emblazoned in calligraphy at the top. As a string quartet played background music, guests enjoyed delicious fare, plenty of wine, and good conversation beneath the moonlight.
