Spencer Carlisle and McCall Tomeny married last Spring right as the wisteria bloomed in abundance. Their Dallas Museum of Art wedding day on April 6, 2019 was abundant in colorful celebration. While neither the bride or groom are Dallas natives, they first met in Dallas so they opted to gather all their family friends at the DMA for a full evening of fun.
Outside at the DMA, behind a wall of boxwood and a perfectly round floral ring, the couple met for their vows. There had been rain, but it completely settled allowing for a tranquil setting as Spencer and McCall placed rings on each others fingers and had their first kiss as husband and wife. The smiles on their faces coming down the aisle beamed as brightly as the colorful floral surrounding the ceremony, and alluded to a festive occasion ahead.
To reflect the DMA’s colored glass installation, tables were dressed in navy with an assortment of eclectic floral. The floral didn’t just coordinate with the decor, however, but also with the wedding party. Spencer wore magenta, suede heels as a fun pop underneath her Vera Wang wedding gown. Her bridesmaids carried the same color, along so many other bright hues, against their black bridesmaid dresses. The portraits of the couple and wedding party in front of the overhanging, bloomed wisteria created some of our favorite portraits of the day!
The new Mr. and Mrs. Tomeny entered the DMA ballroom from the large staircase and immediately opened the dance floor with their first dance to “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You”. The dance floor remained full for most of the evening, following the father daughter and mother son dances, as In10City kept the celebrations high. For an exciting break in festivities, Spencer and McCall cut their decadent cakes. Spencer’s was decorated with molded sugar perfectly resembling the DMA installation seen just above where the cake sat. As an ode to his Louisiana roots, McCall’s cake was a king’s cake, complete with the good luck charm awaiting a guest in every layer.
After a full night of joy, Spencer and McCall’s guests lined up outside the DMA entrance to wish the couple a final farewell. As the couple left the building bound for their Rolls Royce getaway car, they were showered with floral petals and cheer. The couple couldn’t resist popping their heads out the car’s sun roof as they drove off for their honeymoon!
