Samantha Hammel grew up vacationing every year in the Florida Keys so it became the perfect destination for her wedding to Sam Lawrence on October 8, 2016. They excitedly planned an oceanside ceremony and reception at Casa Marina Resort allowing all their closest family and friends to gather to their favorite place in the world.
Samm wore a playful Lela Rose gown and carried a bouquet full of jewel-tones—a perfect contradiction to the tropical setting and befitting the month of October. She also wore an Aquazzura stiletto detailed with a pineapple to bring her look together. Samm with her bridesmaids took portraits outside the quaint, Floridian cottages before heading to the beach where Samm would meet her soon-to-be husband.
The couple allowed the beauty of their surroundings to set the scene for their ceremony. Samm told Inside Weddings, “I didn’t want to take away from the gorgeous natural beauty of the palm trees and the ocean, so I kept the aisle decor minimal.” Their ceremony was officiated by the groom’s brother and two close friends read an excerpt from The Velveteen Rabbit and E. E. Cummings “I Carry Your Heart” to personalize the service.
Similar to the ceremony, the couple’s reception felt inviting yet whimsical. The jewel-tones of the bridal bouquet were found on every reception table set with burgundy-hued floral, gold accents, and sea-glass place cards. Samm’s love of Milk Bar’s ‘Birthday Cake’ inspired the funfetti decorated dessert table which offered a surprising and playful backdrop to the evening.
Today we celebrate Samm and Sam’s four year wedding anniversary! Though we aren’t “Off the Florida Keys… Taking it away from it all” as the Beach Boys sing, we celebrate their wonderful wedding here in Dallas.
