With a love story that started in New York City, and a New Year’s wedding that started in Alexandra’s childhood home, how is this not a movie?
When Alexandra moved to New York in 2018, she often made a point to visit her cousin, Balt, who also lived in the city. Upon spending time with him, she also got to know his roommate, Joseph, quite well. Seeing him as “off-limits” as a family member’s best friend, Alexandra kept her interest at bay.
After the realization that the two worked in the same office building in Manhattan, they innocently made plans for a coffee date during work. Eventually, their habitual meet-ups for coffee turned into meetings after work for drinks, then into dinner dates on the town. Wanting to ensure they were equally as serious about the other before getting family involved, they kept their relationship a secret for some time.
A few months after their first outing together, the two broke the news to their loved ones, who couldn’t have been more supportive. Balt, Alexandra’s cousin and Joseph’s roommate at the time, would even become the Best Man at their wedding.
The two hosted their wedding in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Alexandra and her sisters got ready in their childhood home, the bridesmaids in Calvin Klein dresses and the bride in a stunning and classic Valenti Spose gown.
After an incredible Wedding Mass, complete with the voices of the Saint Joseph Cathedral Men’s Chorus, it was time for the reception, and the celebration of the New Year! Scioto Country Club was a vision of Winter white, teeming with arrangements by Vessel Flowers. The crisp, white floral accents on Alexanda’s cake complemented the oversized floral brocade that made up the pattern on her a-line skirt.
A quick change into something sequin-laid, and a celebratory confetti pop later (both New Year’s essentials), it was time to see the newlywed Mr. and Mrs. Canina off. What a wedding, what a celebration, what an amazing love story! Wishing all the best to Alexandra and Joseph, and newlywed life in the Big Apple!
