Katie’s wedding day began with a pajama party in the Bridal suite of Brook Hollow with her bridesmaids. The girls had their hair and makeup done while they sipped on champagne. After glam, Katie’s sister and mother helped her into her dress.
Her dress, by Mira Zwillinger, was a stunning floral gown adorned with floral appliques. She looked gorgeous with her hair styled in an up-do and a classic, clean makeup look. “My wedding dress made my wedding feel super unique. I have never seen a dress like mine, and people are still complimenting me about it to this day. I felt beautiful in the dress!!” Katie had her new initials sewn into her wedding dress in blue. She paired her dress with Loeffler Randall heels and her mother’s jewelry. The sweetest detail of her look was the handwritten note on the bottom of her heels. On the soles, Matt wrote their wedding date along with “Best day ever! I love you to pieces! – Your Husband”. Does it get any cuter than that? I imagine her reaching into her closet for her shoes and seeing a reminder of her wedding day each time.
Before the ceremony, Katie did her first-look with her bridesmaids outside of Brook Hollow. The girls, dressed in pink, had the sweetest expressions on their faces as they saw Katie in her dress for the first time. “I loved my first look with my bridesmaids. Throughout my wedding season, they were always trying to guess what my dress would look like, so it was super fun to see their reactions to my dress!”
As if it couldn’t get any cuter, Katie then did a first-look with Matt. She approached him as he faced in the opposite direction until he finally turned around to see his bride. With her face lit up and her arms open wide, Katie embraced Matt as he looked at her in awe. Their bridal party came out cheering as it was time to head to the church. In a sweet summertime ceremony, Katie and Matt were pronounced husband and wife at Highland Park Presbyterian Church!
After their nuptials, it was back to Brook Hollow to get the party started. At the entrance stood blue and white ginger jars that held grand arrangements of blue and white hydrangeas. The same flowers were used in a floral arch that hung above the entrance leading into the ballroom. Trees stood against each wall and the chandelier was decorated with hanging greenery contributing to a forest-like feel. Candles lined each table, creating a romantic ambiance.
Katie’s cake was five tiers and decorated with the same white peonies from her bridal bouquet. The groom’s cake, created by Fancy Cakes By Lauren, was a LSU tigers football helmet in reference to his alma mater. “Matt’s only request to be included in the wedding day was his LSU football helmet for his groom’s cake!
In true Dallas fashion, the Mi Cocina mambos were flowing and the party was in full swing. The boys broke into their dancing shoes, New Balances, perfect for tearing up the dance floor. Katie switched shoes as well, she wore the cutest Miron Crosby boots fit for the perfect Texas bride. Mr. and Mrs. Becker were front and center singing with the band for the majority of the night. Towards the end, they even joined in on the fun on stage! “I love having a good time, and to me, that means good music- so I was PUMPED when we were able to book the Melange Band from Intensity. I LOVED when the band started playing “Callin’ Baton Rouge” and Matt and I threw out Mardi Gras beads to the crowd.”
As things winded down, guests made a tunnel outside waiting for Katie and Matt’s departure. Mr. and Mrs. Becker shared one final dance alone before heading out to say goodbye to their loved ones. Sparklers were held high as Katie and Matt departed in a vintage getaway car!
