Some weddings simply radiate joy and Lauren and Jesse’s Charleston celebration was no exception. Set amid the historic beauty of South Carolina’s Lowcountry, with sweeping river views, Spanish moss, and loved ones gathered from near and far, the weekend felt like a heartfelt reflection of the couple’s story and style.
Lauren and Jesse’s journey began in the Carolinas, where mutual friends introduced them while Lauren was working as a news reporter. Lauren, a native Texan, with countless family vacations spent on the South Carolina coast, and Jesse being from there himself, it was only natural for the couple to begin their next chapter there.
After what felt like hundreds of dresses, the moment Lauren stepped into her strapless Reem Acra gown, her mom and aunt’s teared up, and everybody knew that was the dress. Lauren’s mom also gifted her a pearl bracelet the morning of the wedding that will be cherished forever!
Their ceremony took place at the storied Summerall Chapel on the Citadel campus, a meaningful nod to Jesse’s alma mater and its proud military traditions. One of Lauren’s favorite memories was exiting the chapel beneath a traditional sword arch with loved ones cheering, a timeless moment that set a tone of legacy, pride, and pure happiness for the celebration to follow.
For the reception, guests were trollied to Lowndes Grove, where oak-lined paths, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, the riverfront dock, and from across the town the ringing of the chapel bells echoed to create an idyllic setting. Lauren’s gown, elegant, structured, and subtly romantic, became a design motif echoed in floral elements, cake details, and the overall aesthetic. The décor paired Charleston charm with coastal sophistication, blending fresh greenery, crisp white blooms, warm wood tones, soft sage and olive patterns all under the clear tent.
As the sun dipped into golden hour, signature cocktails, spicy margaritas and old fashioneds flowed under twinkle lights and pendant lamps. A packed dance floor and the bride’s radiant smile defined the evening, with high-energy moments like “Jessie’s Girl” bringing the house down as Lauren debuted her second look. Guests refueled with espresso martinis before being served late night snacks of chocolate milkshakes and truffle parmesan fries for which the couple had custom cups and fry holders made.
With a sparkling send-off and a getaway in a classic Rolls Royce, Lauren and Jesse ended their celebration exactly as they’d lived it: surrounded by the people they love most, in a place that feels like home. A wedding grounded in tradition, filled with personality, and overflowing with happiness. Cheers to Mr. and Mrs. Reeves.
