From hospital scrubs to tux and gown, Alexis and Trevor’s story illustrates that love truly is the best medicine. The couple met while working in a hospital, Alexis as a resident and Trevor as a nurse. “You could see the love so much in our wedding because we’ve been through so much together,” Alexis shared. “We’ve been through a pandemic together, grieved over patients together. Trevor has carried me through some of our hardest times of my residency,” she recalled. With that strong foundation of support, the love was palpable on their wedding day.
A Dallas-native, Alexis knew she wanted to get married in her hometown. They chose Perkins Chapel for the ceremony, where Alexis dazzled in an elegant Monique Lhuillier gown with a sleeved lace jacket. Her “something borrowed” was more than tradition, it was her mother’s veil, worn by her sister and best friend before her. A timeless heirloom that carried generations of love, woven into her whole look that was effortlessly elegant, deeply personal, and wrapped in meaning. Trevor’s mom gave Alexis a six-pence, a family good luck charm (and something old), that she wore in her shoe.
One of the bride’s favorite memories of the day is of her nephew’s walk down the aisle, lollipop in hand. “It made me laugh and I immediately felt at ease,” she recalled. The adorable moment grounded her and reminded her of all the people she loved who were a part of the wedding day. But perhaps one of the most emotionally powerful moments of the day was the first look. It was a quiet, intimate pause that set the tone for everything to come. The tenderness carried into the portraits, images they’ll forever hold as a reminder of exactly how it felt.
Alexis envisioned a black tie garden party for the reception, elegant with a touch of whimsy. The Hotel Crescent was the perfect setting: warm wood paneling, crescent-shaped windows, a checkered dance floor, and clouds of white hydrangeas and roses set the tone for an elegant evening. But the most unforgettable detail came as a surprise from Trevor: a live painter who spent the night capturing their first dance on canvas. “It was a complete surprise and his gift to me. We have the finished product hanging in our house now.”, Alexis shared.
Details added layers of personality throughout the night and the groom’s Waffle House cake was a crowd favorite. It even featured Alexis and Trevor looking out the window and their beloved dogs outside.
For the reception, Alexis took off her sleeved jacket in favor of fun spaghetti straps and boots. “Trevor always wears boots. He’s worn cowboy boots since I met him,” Alexis shared. Her white boots were a gift from Trevor years ago. When he gave them to her, she told him she was going to save them for their wedding day. They were worth the wait.
As the evening came to an end, the newlyweds shared a private last dance. The emotional moment was Alexis’s favorite of the day. “As soon as everyone left and the song started to play, we could just feel how special the day was, how grateful we were for all those people,” she shared. “I could tell in that moment that everything was right. And we both just melted.”
