On New Year’s Eve in 2020, Avery and her roommates hosted a party for their close friends. Avery’s friends had been trying to set her up with Austin for a while, so it was the perfect time for a casual run-in. “They brought him to my party as a surprise and pushed us into each other; the next week, we went on two dates and started dating shortly after!” Avery shared.
As 2022 drew to a close, Avery spent the week with Austin’s family for Christmas. “Austin grew up working at Joshua Creek Ranch, a very special place to him. He took me there for brunch after church—he drove me to his favorite spot by the creek, had a Bible and a bottle of champagne, and proposed!”
Wedding planning was underway as the new year began with the help of Weddings a la Carte! For Avery, it was an easy decision on where to be married. “As a little girl, my grandparents’ backyard was the most magical place to me. Father of the Bride is one of my favorite movies, so a wedding at home sounded so special—and her home is walking distance to the church I grew up in—I knew it had to be there from the beginning!” With the venue pinned down, Avery turned her attention to decor and theme. She drew inspiration from her love of Gracie wallpaper with a garden party influence to transform her grandparents’ backyard into a pastel vision.
On the morning of October 21st, 2023, Avery and Austin got ready to walk down the aisle! Avery spent the morning getting ready with her bridesmaids at her parents’ home, a very special place to Avery and her friends. Once ready, it was off to Highland Park Presbyterian Church! Avery and Austin exchanged their vows and exited the church amidst a shower of rose petals. Trumpeters played as Avery and Austin led the way for guests to the reception at Avery’s grandparents’ home.
A focal point of the decor at the reception was the stage backdrop made by Three Branches and Carly Creative Co. “They both knew how much I loved Gracie wallpaper, and Carly watercolored her own version. Three branches then brought it to life with florals, branches, and butterflies!” A grand tent was set up above the dancefloor, and string lights wrapped around the trees. A beautiful blue bar stood on one end of the lawn, decorated with ginger jars holding pastel-colored floral arrangements. As dinner was served, Avery and Austin sneaked up to the balcony overlooking the backyard for a private dinner, just the two of them.
Avery and Austin’s at-home wedding was an unforgettable one, and we are thrilled to have been a part of their special day!
