Laguna Gloria, a stunning 15-bedroom estate on Lake Austin at Mount Bonnell, was originally a showplace for Clara Driscoll’s entertaining. Her fondness for Lake Como in Italy inspired the Mediterranean-style architecture and immaculate gardens. Driscoll later donated the homesite to be used as a city museum—first, as an art museum and later owned by The Contemporary Austin where it can be enjoyed still today.
Our bride, Avery, first introduced us to Laguna Gloria’s beauty when she selected the grounds as her bridal portrait destination. The estate’s checkered flooring, rounded windows, and excessive natural light provide an ideal space for a glowing bride (especially wearing Carolina Herrera). The outdoor gardens—accessorized by Italian fountains and courtyards amidst The Contemporary’s installations and exhibits—are as beautiful as inside the estate. Indoor to outdoor, in any season, Laguna Gloria is a beautiful destination for portraits and we hope to continue to return!
