In Austin, Texas, amidst the rolling hills and lush landscape, Caroline and Kyle celebrated their love in a spectacular wedding at the Omni Barton Creek. Their journey to the altar was as unique and heartwarming as the couple themselves, marked by a blind date, a long-distance romance, and a deeply personal engagement.
“Our story began in the summer of 2020,” Caroline reminisces. “Kyle and I were set up by two sisters – one a friend of Kyle’s from the University of Georgia and the other, a sorority sister of mine from The University of Texas. Our blind date at Loro on South Lamar lasted until the waiters had to kindly ask us to leave. Our second date was just 2 days later, and while we realized our relationship was something special, I was moving that week to start my Master’s program in Dallas. The long distance dating began and after a year and a half, Kyle moved to Dallas!”
The proposal, as Caroline recounts, was a surprise woven with family and sentimentality. “Kyle proposed at my lake house on Lake Cherokee in Longview, a place very dear to me,” she shares. “Under the string lights on the deck, he asked me to marry him. Walking inside to find our families ready to celebrate with us was the cherry on top of an already perfect evening.”
Wedding planning took place shortly thereafter in preparation for their early March wedding. “I loved planning the florals for the wedding. I had a vision of what I wanted my wedding flowers to look like, and the process of realizing my vision began by sending floral inspiration photos. Then, we discussed specific colors and styles of arrangements. Westbank Flower Market did such a good job of sending detailed portfolios with color palates and flowers that would be used in the arrangements, which was so fun to look through and to start envisioning our day” Caroline shared.
Choosing the Omni Barton Creek was a decision of the heart. Caroline explains, “When we began looking in Austin, we came across the Omni Barton Creek, and we couldn’t stop thinking about it. We loved the idea that our guests could stay at our wedding venue and experience all of the amazing amenities it has to offer. My parents actually went to look at the Omni Barton Creek when they were driving back from coordinating wedding details for my sister’s wedding before Kyle and I saw it. When they came back and showed us the pictures, we all knew that we had to get married there.”
In regards to the theme, Caroline shared, “Our theme was a traditional bright spring wedding, but we made sure to infuse it with touches of my personality,” says Caroline. The choice of multiple spring colors to enliven the space reflected the couple’s desire for a happy, vibrant celebration.
The decor elements were carefully chosen, with light pink crystal glasses and a floral installation above the dance floor being highlights for Caroline. “Pink has always been my favorite color,” she notes, “so it was nice to be able to use pink glassware to subtly tie into the pink and sunset-colored flowers In the room.”
Reflecting on the ceremony, Caroline recalls a moment of connection: “Right before our vows, catching a glimpse of Kyle and our loved ones was incredibly special.” The Omni Barton Creek, being a bustling resort, provided an unexpected audience for their ceremony. Caroline fondly remembers the cheers from hotel guests and golfers, adding an extra layer of joy to their special day.
The reception brought its share of memorable moments as well, from the sea of blinking cowboy hats on the dance floor to the private last dance that allowed the couple a moment of serene gratitude amidst the whirlwind celebration.
Caroline and Kyle’s wedding at the Omni Barton Creek was a beautiful testament to their love story, from their blind date beginnings to a meticulously planned celebration among family and friends. As they danced under the Texas stars, surrounded by love and laughter, Caroline and Kyle started a new chapter as newlyweds. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Eliff!
