After a weekend in WaterColor of laughter, reunions, and sunshine-filled celebrations, Caroline and Walker’s wedding day arrived, along with a storm cloud or two. The forecast for the wedding day had been unpredictable all week, and the family spent days preparing rain contingency plans. But when Caroline stepped out for her reveal, the sun broke through. “The sun!” her bridesmaids shouted, breathless. And just like that, the day turned golden.
The ceremony took place beneath a glowing sky, with light streaming through Caroline’s veil and joy radiating from every seat.
The families wove meaningful details into the ceremony. The Episcopal priest officiating was a family friend who knew both Caroline and Walker personally. Caroline’s brother sang. Walker wore his grandfather’s wedding band while Caroline wore her grandmother’s, engraved with important family wedding dates and their own. And tucked into Caroline’s bouquet were two sentimental heirlooms: a hairpin from her 10th birthday trip with her childhood best friend, a broach from Walker’s grandfather.
The style of the day mirrored Caroline’s crisp and refined aesthetic: punchy pinks and greens, sculptural tulips, tight hydrangeas, clean lines. That same elegance extended to her gown, an Oscar de la Renta stunner from Casa de Novia in Houston. Its drape and silk had been so striking when she tried on gowns, it was the only dress that made her mom cry.
Suzanne, the mother of the bride, planned the wedding alongside Caroline. Caroline wanted to make sure that in a day traditionally filled with moments for fathers, Suzanne would get to be celebrated, too.
They created a moment for the mother of the bride that redefined tradition. Caroline’s brother walked Suzanne down the aisle. Later, she circled back to meet Caroline and her father mid-way down their aisle walk, looping her arm through Caroline’s and bringing her to the end of the aisle. It was a quiet, beautiful recognition of the role she played in every step leading up to this one.
Later, Caroline and her dad danced to “Sweet Caroline,” and the family toasted with their signature champagne, a creation they made together.
“The love that was present that day. It was so palpable, and it was so joyous,” Suzanne shared. “Because you both bring incredible people to your corner.”
It was a weekend full of sunshine, full hearts, and full-on celebration everything Caroline and Walker dreamed it would be.
