Clara, a wedding planner herself, knew exactly the kind of magic she wanted for her own day.
Clara and Blake met at Texas A&M, where he caught Clara’s eye, leading to an invitation to her sorority date party. Covid put those plans on pause. Two years later, their paths crossed again. She brought him to two date parties, and a relationship blossomed. Even when Blake graduated before her and moved to her hometown of Dallas, he charmed her parents by stopping by their house regularly for lunch. After the two reunited in the city, a wedding was on the way.
The ceremony was held at the elegant Prestonwood Baptist Church. As Clara’s brother sang worship songs, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. She walked down the aisle in a satin strapless gown and a veil borrowed from her sister, wearing a bracelet worn by 25 other women in her family. Her wedding shoes were even custom designed by a family friend at J. Renee, with Kyle Field engraved on the soles and an inscription reading, “Where it all began.”
The Hall of Lights hosted the reception of Clara’s dreams and being in the wedding industry, she’s seen a number of dreamy weddings. They’d chosen a large venue to ensure that everyone had a seat at the table. A color palette of greens, blues, and whites greeted guests as they found their seating number on an oversized replica of the couple’s wedding invitation.
After heartwarming toasts and first dances, Clara and Blake led the crowd onto the dance floor for a night of crowd-surfing in “Party Hardy” trucker hats. A huge, blue wedding cake was sliced, cotton candy was spun, and even bagpipes were played. At one point, the Aggie War Hymn rang through the room, and the crowd full of alumni swayed back and forth in a wave of nostalgia.
At the end of the night, guests held Chinese lanterns to guide Clara and Blake to their getaway trolley. For Clara, the memories are vivid. “I relive it every day,” she said. “I replayed my ceremony music in the car yesterday.”
Her dad summed it up best, saying he wished they could do it all again!
