“Harlan and I knew each other when we both worked at the same oil and gas company in Austin, TX.” Elizabeth and Harlan’s paths crossed once again when they both moved back to their hometown, Midland, in 2021. In June of 2022, Harlan proposed to Elizabeth at the polo fields. Elizabeth recalled the day and said “He told me we were getting dressed up for a friend’s celebration and on the way he wanted to stop by the Polo Fields to throw the ball to his dog, Chap. He then proposed and both sides of our families came out of hiding to surprise us. Harlan then took me to his parents house where all of our friends were waiting to celebrate with us. The wedding was the most fun day of my life but that surprise proposal was the best day of my life!”
Their wedding took place at the Midland Petroleum Club. It was a no brainer for Elizabeth who said “The Petroleum Club is a Midland staple for large events so it was an easy choice!” The ballroom was decorated in hunter green and a variety of shades of pink. “Pink is my favorite color so that was an easy decision and we wanted to add Hunter Green in to add some warmth to the palette since it was a winter wedding.” Elizabeth’s favorite flowers, hydrangeas, were used at the ceremony as well as atop the long tables at their reception. Harlan had the idea to incorporate a large bar at the Petroleum club, which was a hit amongst guests.
The entire weekend was focused on fun and the people that Elizabeth and Harlan surround themselves with. We are so happy we got to be a part of your wedding day Mr. and Mrs. Coats!!
