Some love stories are written over time, and for Elizabeth and Robert the chapters began just a few miles apart. Though they both attended Highland Park, it wasn’t until years later that their forever love story began. Robert proposed at the Dallas Arboretum, cleverly disguised as a work party, complete with a faux invitation designed by Elizabeth’s sister. The surprise was perfect and the planning journey began with a clear vision: blue and green, floral-forward, and full of family touches.
One of the most touching parts of the day came from Elizabeth’s dad. Not only was he actively involved in paper goods (a nod to his career in printing and graphic design), but he was also part of a deeply emotional first look and family tribute. Elizabeth tucked a Roman coin, originally saved by her late aunt Amy for her own wedding day, into her shoe, a surprise she shared with her dad the day before the wedding. The coin had become a treasured keepsake, and including it was her way of carrying Amy’s memory into this new chapter.
Her dress, a textured floral gown with a hidden slit, was chosen months after her engagement during a sentimental shopping trip with her mom and and a Facetime call from her grandmother. Elizabeth wore her mother’s veil and even repurposed her mom’s 1980s wedding dress into a delicate clutch and garter. A personal highlight of the day was recreating her mother’s bridal portrait: a subtle nod to timeless romance with a touch of modern whimsy.

The morning of the wedding was spent at home, sipping coffee, playing mahjong, and getting ready in a relaxed, joyful setting. And when the big moments came, like the first dance, Elizabeth and Robert shared a few quiet minutes to practice together. “Just the two of us, right before we went out,” she said. “It let us take a breath and say, ‘This is happening.’”
Looking back, Elizabeth said her cup felt full, surrounded by her closest friends and family, dancing beneath a floral halo and twinkling cat ears. With a gallery filled with joyful, timeless images and memories steeped in love and legacy, Elizabeth and Robert’s wedding wasn’t just beautiful, it was personal in all the best ways.
