Classic and elegant in Washington D.C.! Franci and Corey celebrated their wedding day in the city where they first met. The pair became friends while working as lawyers in the Senate on legislative projects. Friendship eventually budded into romance and then a proposal in February of 2022. Franci and Corey were visiting friends in Santa Barbara when he surprised her with a proposal on the beach at Miramar in Montecito!
On May 6th, 2023, Franci and Corey said “I do” at the Dahlgren Chapel at Georgetown University. As the chapel doors opened and Franci entered with her father, light filtered through the gorgeous stained glass windows. The ceremony venue was particularly meaningful to Franci, who has multiple family members that were also married there. Following an intimate ceremony surrounded by loved ones, Franci and Corey were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Becker!
The Beckers’ decision to get married in Washington D.C. stemmed from their history with the area. “We dithered for a while on this, actually, because there were a few other locations—including Dallas—that were really important to us as a couple and we thought those would be very fun. But in the end, we met in DC, our relationship really deepened when we were quarantined together in DC during the pandemic, and we knew we’d be able to have the wedding of our dreams here. I was actually born in DC and have lots of family in the area, so it was personal to me for many reasons.”
Reception festivities followed outdoors at the Decatur House. The venue was perfect for the Beckers because it comfortably fit their big families and had an Old D.C. feel. “I loved the idea of a museum or a historic home—really keeping the classic feeling throughout the space. Decatur’s brick courtyard sealed the deal for us. It had that outside, spring, floral energy and we knew the tent would look incredible.” Franci’s planner, Arney Walker, made all of her wedding dreams come true. Looking back on her experience with Arney, Franci shared “I cannot say enough about what a joy and privilege it was to work with Arney. Her taste is impeccable, her ability to execute every tiny idea that came to me or my mother, her warmth and charm and enthusiasm—she is the reason it was the best day of our lives. She created magic in every detail, from the crossword-themed cocktail napkins to the old-fashioned shape of the martini glasses.”
The combined efforts of spectacular vendors resulted in an elegant tent featuring white and green flowers at the Decatur House. Franci wanted her reception to be absolutely surrounded by flowers. Amaryllis had the wonderful idea on the wedding day to create a floral valance around the tent. A stunning change of direction made a unique statement.
Franci shared “I wanted there to be the joyful energy of a rushing brook, both from the chatter of people having an amazing time and the flowing champagne.” Toasts throughout the weekend were a true display of the love for this amazing couple! The evening capped off with a high, everyone gathering on the dance floor belting the lyrics to “Love Story” by Taylor Swift. The Beckers exited amongst sparklers and hopped into a vintage getaway car, the perfect capstone to an incredible evening.
