Jaclyn and Thomas’s wedding weekend began with an intimate family ceremony at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in California. The Johnston’s decision to get married in Santa Barbara stemmed from their ties to the area. “Santa Barbara is truly Thomas’s happy place from years of visits to his grandparents and extended family in Santa Barbara. We almost didn’t get married in Santa Barbara since we each have a sibling who got married in different venues there already, but luckily they were generous about sharing their wedding city with us.” Jaclyn shared. She credits her sister for inspiring her to host a private family ceremony. “My sister got married in Santa Barbara four years prior, and it was her idea to have a family marriage ceremony at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. I loved how intimate the family ceremony was and how we got to spend time with her new family, so I fully credit my sister with inspiring the entire playbook for the Thursday family ceremony leading into the wedding weekend celebration.”
For the ceremony, Jaclyn wore a satin pearl midi dress by Markarian. A bow draped down the front of the dress and pearls adorned the straps on her shoulders.
After Jaclyn and Thomas exchanged vows, they exited the church hand in hand. They took the moment in as they strolled around the grounds of the church as newlyweds. They then hopped into a classic Mustang Cobra that they picked out together for a cruise at golden hour before heading to their reception. As Mr. and Mrs. Johnston drove away, they lifted their hands in the air in celebration of a beautiful evening before arriving at San Ysidro Ranch for dinner with their families.
We can’t wait to share more from their wedding day at Rosewood Miramar Beach on the blog tomorrow!
