Krissy and John’s journey to the altar began through mutual friends. “I went to Baylor and my college roommate went to high school with John and introduced us” Krissy shared. They discovered a surprising family connection, as Krissy’s dad had worked with John’s dad and grandpa years ago. “It was just a really cool God thing that we have so many connections,” Krissy added.
On December 23, 2022, John took Krissy to the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas. “He told me he had this plan for a while. I’m a teacher, and he wanted it to be on my first day of winter break so I could celebrate with my friends and not have to go back to work for a couple of weeks,” Krissy explained. John created a breathtaking setup with flowers, candles, and lights. Following the proposal, John surprised Krissy with an engagement party, bringing their families together for a heartwarming celebration.
Krissy always dreamed of an outdoor wedding. They chose a golf course venue that offered the perfect blend of an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception. “I wanted it to be somewhere outside. I always wanted an outdoor wedding” Krissy said. The weather was a concern, but it turned out to be perfect.
Flowers played a significant role in Krissy and John’s wedding. “I just wanted flowers everywhere. Bella Flora and our wedding planner Kristin did an amazing job,” she shared. Krissys’ love of flowers stems from her Mom, and she knew that she wanted them to be the central part of the decor on her wedding day. The floral arch and decorations were stunning, making the reception feel like an indoor garden. “Once we saw it all together, it was magical,” Krissy said.
The wedding was filled with meaningful moments and special traditions. Krissy and John had a private communion during the ceremony, incorporating their Catholic faith in a unique way. “We did a private communion with my godmother, who did a little private prayer. It was very special,” Krissy shared.
Krissy’s wedding dress held a special surprise. Her mom sewed a piece of fabric from Krissy’s late aunt’s shirt inside the dress for her to carry with her. “It was my “something blue”. It says, ‘Even if we’re apart, I’ll always be with you.’ That was a surprise to me, something very special,” Krissy shared.
Another touching tradition involved a bottle of Louis. Each man in Krissy’s family has their own bottle of Louis. On a special occasion, like a wedding day, they drink one glass. Krissy’s dad shared a glass with John before they walked down the aisle, symbolizing the passing of a cherished family tradition. “My dad has a bottle, my brother-in-law has a bottle, and now John has one. It’s something we’ll share at important events,” Krissy explained.
During the reception, Krissy and John had a private dinner, allowing them to relax and savor the moment together. “We got to just relax, breathe, and take it all in together,” Krissy said. For her reception, Krissy debuted a second look by Galia Lahav that she purchased at Stanley Korshak Bridal Salon. It was a low V neckline trumpeting wedding gown. It featured a gathered back detail with crystal buttons and a silver shimmery trumpet. Their reception was a fun-filled party, complete with an electric string quartet and lively dancing. The party raged on with an after party held in the ballroom. “It was so fun. My grandpa even made it to the after party with light-up glasses on!” Krissy laughed. At this point in the night, Krissy changed into her third look by Yaniv Persy inspired by the 1920s for a fun mini dress after party look.
From the thoughtful proposal to the meticulously planned wedding day, every detail of the Krissy and John’s wedding weekend was infused with meaning. As Krissy put it, “It was perfect. Everything went so smoothly.”
Congratulations, Krissy and John! Your wedding day was truly a beautiful celebration of love and the beginning of a wonderful journey together.
