Kristen and Lucas’s love story unfolded beautifully from being UT college classmates who never met, to connecting in Houston post-grad, their relationship was kismet. Their wedding was not only an expression of their love, but a touching reflection of family heritage, personal style, and joy shared across generations.
The venues carried deep family meaning: the church, rehearsal dinner site, and reception space were all the same ones Kristen’s parents used for their wedding weekend decades earlier. Kristen even recreated some of their wedding photos, weaving past and present together beautifully. Her “something borrowed” was a bracelet from her mother, a gift from her father, and she toasted the night away with heirloom silver goblets once buried during the Civil War to protect them. Those goblets have since appeared in generations of family weddings, including Kristen’s grandparents.

The personal touches didn’t stop there. Kristen, an avid needlepointer, created a custom cummerbund for Lucas, featuring two Longhorns cheers-ing margaritas, a nod to their shared love of the University of Texas. She also commissioned a painting of Houston Country Club, the wedding venue, which she gifted to Lucas on the big day.
A favorite moment of the evening? Kristen’s twirl-filled father-daughter dance to “Brown Eyed Girl.” Lucas and Kristen also danced to “My Girl,” and their golden retriever even tried to join in during at-home rehearsals. There were surprises, too! Kristen and Lucas were stunned when the Astros mascot, Orbit, showed up on the dance floor. Guests also loved the oversized cutouts of the bride, groom, and their new puppy, Honey.
Through sentimental heirlooms, Texas charm, joyful surprises, and a few golden retriever antics, Kristen and Lucas’s wedding was a celebration rooted in family and filled with thoughtful elegance. Cheers to the Andersons!
