Lauren and Tommy’s wedding at Riomar Country Club in Florida was the culmination of a love story that began in high school. The couple dated on and off through college before moving to Charleston together, where he proposed at the tree house on his family’s grapefruit grove, the same spot where his parents got engaged.
After a weekend of pickleball, a bridal luncheon and a seaside rehearsal dinner, the big day was finally upon them. Lauren dazzled in a Monique Lhuillier gown she found during a spontaneous visit to the designer’s boutique while in London. The gown was shipped to New York, where Lauren had her fittings, making the dress a nod to the couple’s love of travel. Her look was completed with heirlooms, like a ring that belonged to her mother’s grandmother and a pair of her mother’s diamond earrings.
Lauren and Tommy shared their first look on a quiet street where Tommy’s beloved grandmother once lived. She also had a tender first look with her father, one that left them so weepy with joy her makeup had to be redone before the ceremony! While walking down the aisle together, they whispered funny memories to keep from tearing up again.
The couple’s two dogs made a cameo before the ceremony, although their excited puppy accidentally tore Lauren’s veil. “We just laughed!” she said. Sometimes, the imperfections make the day even more memorable.
Design inspiration came in part from her grandmother, who loves throwing a good party. Greenery and bohemian chandeliers hung from the ceiling, and a striped green and white dance floor set the stage for guests fueled by espresso martinis.
After dinner, Lauren and Tommy shared a quiet cake-cutting with their parents. In lieu of a bouquet toss, Lauren dedicated hers to her mother with a heartfelt speech. The newlyweds had a private last dance to soak in the final moments of it all before heading to a South African honeymoon.
