Corbin and Cyrus’s story began while they were both studying abroad at Savannah College of Arts and Design’s campus in Hong Kong. “I joke that it all started because we were the only Americans in our Public Speaking class but it was really the daily after-class adventures we’d go on that solidified the spark!” While Cyrus stayed in Hong Kong for the remainder of school, Corbin returned to her life on the Savannah campus. On the day of her departure, Cyrus packed up Corbin’s many, many suitcases and said goodbye, not knowing that they would run into each other later down the road. A few years later, the pair ran into one another at a dive bar back in Georgia. “We knew we didn’t want to wait for each other again and truly have not left each other’s side ever since!”
Their love took flight in Kauai when Cyrus proposed while airborne in a helicopter. They were vacationing in Hawaii for New Years Eve where he organized a tour of the island’s beautiful beaches and lush gardens. As they passed the hundreds of majestic waterfalls, Cyrus popped the question. “Luckily I was able to get out a yes over the headset!”
Corbin’s beautiful and unique Monique Lhullier gown detailed with green lily of the valley flowers inspired much of her wedding vision. “The dress was actually one of the first I tried on and it was truly love at first sight – I made the decision that night!” Corbin drew inspiration from it for the perfect palette and design plan of their wedding day. Her vision for the day was an intimate, ethereal garden feel.
The decision to get married in California was based upon their mutual love for the state, the food and wine in particular. “Even though we were both born and raised in the South, we always knew we wanted to be married in California – our adopted and *current* home.” Corbin and Cyrus are big foodies, and frequently take road trips through the wine country. One of their first road trips was to San Ysidro Ranch, their wedding venue. “It was a perfect and memorable fit for our big day.”
The ceremony was held in the ranch’s rose garden. The natural beauty of the garden was complemented by beautiful flowers done by Camellia Floral Design. “I wanted LOTS of flower power – getting married in a rose garden just wasn’t enough!”
After being pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Maleki, Corbin and Cyrus took a stroll through the lavender fields of San Ysidro Ranch. Holding on to the last few moments of daylight, the sun filtered in through the trees above and a lovely, sweet aroma filled the air. It was the perfect time to soak in the reality of their wedding day.
Corbin changed into her second look of the day for their reception. She wore an off the shoulder mini dress from One/Of by Patricia Voto. For dinner, California Farm to Table Food & Local Wines were served. After toasts, guests hit the dance floor for a performance by Yachtley Crew. In true yacht fashion, captain’s hats were distributed to set the mood. It was a truly magical evening celebrating an amazing couple. Congratulations Corbin and Cyrus!
