In a celebration that seamlessly blended Texas charm with New York elegance, Madie Nastala and Cam Lee exchanged vows at St. Marks Episcopal Church. The event was orchestrated by the talented Brittany Casey of Sweet August Events, unfolded in a timeless fashion, reflecting the couple’s love story and individual personalities.
“Our vision was to create the feeling of a Texas Southern Christmas fused with a classic New York black-tie event,” Madie shared. “Cam is from NY, and I am from Texas, so it was important to us to merge what we love most about the holidays in these two unique places.”
A detail that held profound significance for the couple was the inclusion of hummingbirds in their invitation suite and decor. “Our families have strong ties to birds, and hummingbirds represent our grandparents who have passed away,” Madie explained. “Including them feels like we are honoring them and their role in creating our families while also having them with us to carry us into the next phase of life in our marriage.”
The couple’s shared faith played a central role in their journey, with Madie expressing the joy of getting married in her family’s church. As an interior designer, Madie collaborated closely with planner Brittany Casey, her mother, and vendors to infuse the weekend with their unique touch.
The festivities kicked off with a bridal luncheon, a reflection of Madie’s love for dressing up and her passion for pickleball. Madie shared, “I was excited to have a non-traditional bridal luncheon the day before the wedding, where all the ladies meet at our country club’s pickleball pavilion for lounging, lessons, friendly matches, finger sandwiches and mimosas! Anyone who knows me knows that there’s not much I love more than dressing for the occasion and pickleball; I found the sweetest “something blue” Byrdie Golf/Tennis dress before we were even engaged and I just knew I would find the perfect place to wear it.”
The holiday theme extended to Madie’s attire, she wore a bright red party dress from Markarian in New York, inspiring the decor for the rehearsal dinner and welcome party.
Madie’s attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from custom matchboxes for the welcome party and reception to the hummingbird and floral-themed table linens. “All of these small things add up and really highlight our individual personalities as well as us together as a couple,” Madie remarked.
Cam’s Long Island roots took center stage, with a groom’s cake depicting a scene from his family’s beach club, Lloyd Neck Bath Club. The signature drink, a Transfusion, paid homage to their love for golf and the reception venue at Madie’s parent’s country club.
Madie’s bridal ensemble incorporated meaningful elements, with her something old being her grandmother’s monogrammed linen handkerchief. Something new was a pair of Manolo Blahnik wedding shoes she had dreamed of for years. Madie borrowed her mother’s Tiffany & Co. Floral diamond earrings, and her something blue was a guardian angel charm gifted by her mother-in-law, adorning her bouquet down the aisle.
Madie Nastala and Cam Lee’s wedding was a harmonious blend of tradition, personality, and love—a celebration that beautifully captured their unique journey and the essence of their union.
