Molly and Matthew met during their time attending SMU. “We’re both from Saint Louis but didn’t meet until we went to SMU. We were both separately with a group of Saint Louis friends, and a mutual friend introduced us all since we were all from the same city! Matthew is a year older and we met one of the first weeks of freshman year, and started dating by October of my freshman year.” It was only fitting that the pair exchanged vows at Perkins Chapel, on the same campus where they met years prior.
Many Scottish elements were incorporated into their wedding day in honor of Molly’s heritage. “My grandmother couldn’t make the trip to Dallas for the big day, so in honor of her and my family, we surprised them with a bagpiper to play as we exited the ceremony. He was dressed in our family’s McMillin tartan. It was a really special moment to see my mom’s face as he started to play.” The sashes worn by the flower girls were made from Molly’s family’s McMillin tartan as well.
For her wedding day, Molly wore Monique Lhuillier’s “Admire” wedding gown with an off-the-shoulder trumpet gown with a puff sleeve detail. Made with luxurious Mikado, Molly customized her gown to feature pearl buttons going down the train. To tie the look together, Molly wore a beautiful cathedral length veil, by Toni Federici, with cascading pearls all throughout. Molly’s personal style was also reflected in her outfit change for the after party, to which she wore a white mini dress with sleeves trimmed with feathers and yellow Manolo Blahniks for a pop of color.
Twinkling lights draped the top of the transparent tent at Arlington Hall where post-wedding celebrations took place. The dance floor, designed with gold and white checkers, reflected the soft light from above, creating a warm glow throughout the room. Molly describes her vision for her wedding as “Romantic and elegant with a touch of modernity.” She wanted tons of twinkle lights and candles to make the day feel intimate and romantic.
It was an honor to be a part of your wedding weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Hinkebein!
