After graduating from the University of Virginia, Molly and Kyle headed west to the Bay Area, where they established their first home together. Choosing the location for their wedding was an easy decision. “One of our favorite things to do as a couple is to go to Napa for wine tastings. Kyle and I do this often, as we live only an hour away in San Francisco. When the decision of where to get married came, Napa was the obvious choice” Molly explained.
Their ceremony took place at the Mont La Salle Chapel, nestled among the Napa hillside amidst vineyards and rose gardens. The Matthews fell in love with the landscaping at Stanly Ranch and knew the Glasshouse Barn would be the perfect venue to dance the night away with family and friends. They particularly appreciated how the barn allowed them to enjoy dinner indoors while still feeling connected to the outdoors. Molly envisioned her wedding as a classic, bright, and colorful garden, which it truly was. Molly’s two most cherished moments from the ceremony included surprising Kyle after their first look with her veil and a custom-made lace topper designed exclusively for the occasion. “Kyle was so surprised to see me in a look that completely transformed the dress, ” Molly exclaimed.
The newlyweds also loved their grand exit from the chapel. “We had guests toss confetti as we made our way out of the Chapel and towards our getaway car, a 1965 green Ford Mustang. My dad is a collector of vintage Ford cars, as his family owned what was at one point the oldest family owned Ford dealership in America. To have my dad drive us away in a beautiful vintage green Mustang convertible was truly the picture-perfect ending to our ceremony!” Molly recalled.
Molly and Kyle were keen on their wedding feeling personalized and thoughtful through the details. Molly’s love for painting and watercolors shone through as she handcrafted each guest’s menu with beautiful designs. For their escort cards, Molly and Kyle wrote personal letters to each guest, guiding them to their designated tables. Additionally, their cocktail napkins featured excerpts from cards and love letters exchanged over their seven-year relationship.
The highlight of the reception for the Matthews was sneaking a peek at the venue before any of the guests. “At that moment, we had the entire room to ourselves and decided to practice our first dance for the first time, with me wearing my large ball gown. Getting to take in this beautiful space that was our vision come to life, while also having a moment alone with one another to share a dance, was something we will never forget!” Molly remembers.
Congratulations to Mrs. Caroline & Mr. Kyle Matthews! We are so grateful to have been a part of your special day.
