The bride’s face says it all! A mile-wide smile was the hallmark of Cathlyn Jones and Michael Davis’ wedding day. From the excitement of the bride when she first saw her venue (can’t you feel her joy from here?!) to her and the groom’s first dance – the whole day was simply a joyous occasion.
The couple’s charming first encounter happened on a Southwest Airlines flight from New York City to Dallas. The two quickly struck up a conversation with the pastor sitting between them (who would later go on to marry them) about their families, faith, and lives and made the connection that Michael had grown up spending the holidays right next door to Cathlyn at his aunt’s house. As they both got off the flight, Cathlyn texted her mom saying she had met her husband and Michael texted his sister saying the same thing. It was one of those stories one dreams of when meeting the love of their life.
Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas housed the couple’s ceremony. The place was adorned with lush pastel blooms created by Gro Designs. So much anticipation had gone into this moment and when it finally arrived it was the most delightful union!
From the church the party made its way to the Omni Barton Creek, where the rest of the night’s festivities really took place! The whole venue was an event planner’s dream as they created four separate spaces that showcased the couple’s individual personality and interests. Verve Event Planning took the couple’s vision and executed it impeccably. A groom’s tent complete with a whiskey bar and baseball memorabilia as a nod to his time as a college and pro player, a cat room for Cathlyn to include her beloved pets on her special day, an extravagant flower filled dance floor, and a chic outdoor sitting area made up these four unique settings.
The whole affair was glamorous and tasteful and was the perfect celebration for Cathlyn and Michael. As the couple bade their loved ones goodbye and were whisked off in a vintage car, they were grateful to have fallen in #loveatfirstflight.
