Caroline and Trafford met through her twin sister, Natalie, who attended Texas A&M with Trafford. “We had known each other for years but didn’t really talk much. We reconnected Fourth of July weekend 2019, when Natalie had all her college friends to our family’s lake house.”
In October of 2021, Trafford proposed to Caroline at her home in Dallas. “My brother had been wanting to get a puppy and texted my sister and I that a breeder had contacted him and he was bringing the puppy to my parents house. My sister and I had planned a sister dinner for Friday night. We got ready early so we could go meet the puppy before dinner. We walked in the front door and the first thing I saw was rose petals all over the entryway in my parents’ house. He walked over to me and got down on one knee. I also fell to my knees, and he proposed! Not even sure I said yes because I was so shocked and happy. Turns out he had been in Dallas all week and his mom had picked him up 10 minutes after I dropped him off the prior Sunday.” From there, wedding planning began and the details were under way!
Caroline worked with Haylie Paige Events to create a classic, timeless & romantic inspired wedding. “We really wanted to go for a classic ballroom feel and use all white flowers.” Outside of their desire for a traditional wedding, they highlighted the importance of having fun, which was certainly achieved!
Caroline and Trafford’s ceremony was not only a celebration of their love, but paid tribute to the loved ones they lost and the guests that traveled near and far to be there with them. “Including our family members who are no longer with us was something very important to Trafford and me. While the ceremony was for us, we realized friends and family traveled far and took time out of their days to celebrate with us and we really wanted them to enjoy themselves.” Caroline and Trafford did long distance for the past year, so their marriage symbolized the start of being together full time.
Following their ceremony at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar were ready to celebrate with their guests at the Ritz Carlton Dallas. The ballroom was beautifully decorated with flowers by Jackson Durham, most notably the grand floral arch behind the band. “I knew I wanted white flowers, a martini bar because of mine and Trafford’s favorite cocktail and a great band (Jordan Kahn) and left the rest to Haylie and our vendors. They knocked it OUT OF THE PARK. It was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.”
For the reception, Caroline changed into a mini dress with fringe and feathers that showed off her white cowboy boots, symbolizing her Texas roots. The Lamars spent the night on stage dancing with their guests and singing with the band. This after party was an unforgettable one and we are so glad we got to celebrate with the Lamars!
