Kate and Zack’s sunrise Washington D.C. engagement session was nothing short of magical. Knowing they’d be marrying at Union Station in April, the couple wanted their engagement photos to capture the spirit of D.C., and inspire guests traveling in for their wedding. They chose iconic backdrops like the Jefferson Memorial and Washington Monument, and met John before sunrise to ensure they’d have them all to themselves. The reward was an ethereal golden light, a quiet city, and portraits that perfectly captured timeless elegance.
Kate and Zack’s outfits were carefully chosen during a fun shopping date, with Kate wearing a Zimmerman dress and another from Neiman’s, while Zack coordinated in classic, tailored pieces. After the sunrise portraits at the monuments, they changed outfits and headed to the Fountain Inn in Georgetown for photos at the site of their first date, surrounded by blooming hydrangeas and charming cobblestone streets.
The morning ended with coffee and pastries at one of Kate’s favorite local cafés before heading into a busy workday. Proof that with a little planning, and a very early alarm, you can create a once-in-a-lifetime engagement shoot that’s as beautiful as it is personal.
