Alex and Drew’s wedding was never meant to feel like just another stop on the wedding circuit. From the beginning, Alex had a very specific vision: she wanted to welcome their guests to the family ranch, a place already filled with holidays, dinner parties, family gatherings, and memories. With friends and family traveling in from across the country, the celebration became an invitation into the place they call home, and every detail was designed to make it feel that way.
The wedding itself came together in just ten months, but the celebration felt anything but rushed. Alex and her mom, who described herself as someone who has always loved parties, holidays, and decorating, spent the planning process creating a day that felt personal at every turn. “I really enjoyed the time with my mom,” Alex shared. “It was really special.”
On the wedding morning, the girls gathered at the ranch’s bunkhouse, where Alex got ready surrounded by her closest friends and family.
Even the ceremony carried a piece of their family history. Alex and Drew exchanged vows at Robert Carr Chapel, the same place where Alex’s parents were married 29 years earlier. For someone as sentimental as Alex, the choice was an especially meaningful one: a beautiful continuation of a family story.
At the ranch, that sense of history continued. Alex and her mom wanted guests to feel as though they had simply arrived for one of the family’s legendary gatherings, only elevated for the occasion. “The goal is we wanted it to feel like people were coming to our house and at a big dinner party,” her mom explained.
The design brought that vision to life through a palette of blues and greens layered with pink, denim, leather, and Western-inspired details. Rather than leaning on the expected cowboy hats and boots, Alex looked to the trees that surround the property as a symbol of home. A custom seating display incorporated real leather and belt buckles, while embroidered hats, custom Five Star Ranch pieces, bandanas, and other details gave guests something to take home with them.
The stationery carried an even deeper story. Flowers were chosen to represent the places that have shaped Alex and Drew’s lives: lady slippers for Minnesota, bluebonnets for Texas, and hydrangeas for their home in Cape Cod. Even the smallest details became a way to tell their story.
The florals were another standout. Alex and her mom were especially drawn to the way the floral team incorporated the natural setting, including custom branches that complemented the trees throughout the property. Draping transformed the horse arena into an elegant reception space, creating a setting that felt both elevated and completely at home on the ranch.
And, of course, no one could forget Maugy. The rescue Shih Tzu Alex and Drew adopted together became an unofficial guest of honor, making appearances throughout the day and even joining the celebration on the dance floor. “He’s very loved by everyone,” Alex said, and the photographs made that abundantly clear.
For Alex, the most meaningful details were often the ones tied to family. She incorporated a pearl ring that had belonged to her grandfather and was given to her grandmother, borrowed a diamond ring from her sister, and wore blue aquamarine earrings from Drew, her birthstone. Even her Dior shoes had a story behind them, chosen in part for the star emblem that tied back to Five Star Ranch.
By the time the evening reached the dance floor, the formality gave way to pure celebration. Alex and Drew chose “The Wonder of You” by Elvis Presley for their first dance, a song they discovered together on a drive home from a friend’s wedding.
