Happy anniversary, Emily and Benson! On June 8, 2019, Emily and Benson hosted a wedding celebration at the Joule with their close family and friends. The young couple first met in middle school and began a relationship their freshman year in college so their many years of friendship and courtship carried through in the sentimental details of the day and their genuine posture towards each other.
Both bride and groom began wedding day with gifts from the other—boxes of special tokens of love. Not exclusive to the gifts, Emily also incorporated tokens of love from her family into her bridal look—Benson’s great grandmother’s handkerchief was tied around her bouquet and her ‘something blue’ was a beautiful, aquamarine ring gifted to her from her parents in high school. Emily also asked her and Benson’s grandmothers to be the flower girls which is one of our favorite details from the day! “They are all such strong women and I really wanted to honor them and let them know how much I love them,” Emily told us.
The reception itself was unique in design mirroring the mid-century modern, bold artistic touches of the Joule. Jackson Durham and Kirstin Rose Events coordinated a wedding design fit for the downtown venue. For the groom, the main wedding components he felt important was the military traditions from the uniforms to the saber arch. In the reception, Emily surprised Benson with a blackhawk helicopter groom’s cake by Fancy Cakes by Lauren. He was starting flight school in the fall so the bride wanted to celebrate her groom with a cake fit for his military career! His reaction to this surprise is one of our favorite portraits!
This wedding felt uniquely Emily and Benson, which we loved! We hope the first year of marriage was just as special as the wedding day—happiest anniversary to the Moore’s!
