Grace and Robert were set up as homecoming dates in high school and dated for eight years before Robert proposed at Brook Hollow, the same venue where their wedding reception would be held. “He proposed on the golf course. He told me we were having dinner with his family. When we got out of the car there was a path lined with flowers and candles to the spot where he got down on one knee. Afterwards, he surprised me with an engagement party with all of our family and friends! It was such a fun night!”
Both the ceremony venue and reception venue held special significance to Grace and Robert. “My parents got married in Ellis Chapel at Park Cities Baptist on the same day 28 years ago! We decided on having the reception at Brook Hollow because Robert’s parents had their reception there as well so the club holds a special meaning to his family!” It was a sweet way for the Engels to honor their parent’s marriages and incorporate them into their wedding day.
For her wedding, Grace wore a stunning voluminous ball gown featuring a plunging v corset top with sheer cutouts from Galia Lahav. She paired her blush pink dress with a cathedral length veil and Badgley Mischka shoes to match. One of Grace’s favorite memories from the ceremony was walking down the aisle with her dad. “The couple moments we had right before were so special and he was such a calming presence to have right before.” After being pronounced husband and wife, a gospel choir came up the aisle to sing “Oh Happy Day”. “It was such a pleasant surprise for our guests and got everyone in the mood to celebrate once they got to Brook Hollow!”
Back at Brook Hollow, the ballroom was transitioned into a pink and purple pastel dream with the help of planner MK Event Boutique and the florists at Garden Gate. “For the colors and flowers, we knew we wanted COLOR! The colors of flowers were picked based on the fact that they made the tone of my dress pop!” Large flower arrangements topped the tables and grand floral arches stood at each entryway. Gold accented decor popped amidst the light colored flowers.
The rest of the evening was spent with Downtown Fever playing hit after hit, getting everyone out on the dance floor. “They invited Robert and I up on stage to sing Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi! At that moment we could see the whole room and everyone was singing along with us. We felt like rock stars! The only request Robert had during the whole wedding process was to play “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey as our last song with the guests. When the confetti dropped during the chorus, everyone belted out the words to the song and they were so surprised to see the confetti coming from the ceiling! It was such a magical moment for the whole room!”
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Engels!
