At what point in a first date does it become clear that a couple has a connection? For Emma Anderson and Charles Thompson, that point came at the very beginning, when they realized they were wearing the exact same pair of sneakers. “This is going to make a very fun story if this works out,” Emma thought.
Of course, it did work out. The couple commemorated the first-date serendipity at their recent wedding reception at the Crescent Hotel Fort Worth, where they changed out of their ceremony shoes into a brand new pair of matching wedding-white and dusty blue sneakers.
The sneakers might have been understated, but the wedding was nothing short of breathtaking. Emma gives credit to Jackson Durham, her florist, along with her other vendors led by Haylie Paige Events, for the flawless execution of her wedding details, ceremony, and reception design.
“I’ve always loved a traditional, classic wedding–blue and white. I let all the vendors do their thing and put my trust in them to make it stunning. They went over the top and exceeded my expectations, and it turned out so beautiful,” Emma shared.
The event took place at the Crescent Hotel Fort Worth. The venue was recently named number one hotel in Texas by Conde Nast Traveler. But perhaps Emma and Charles gave the Crescent Hotel an even more special honor, as they hosted its very first wedding. What made the venue even more sentimental to the couple is that Emma’s dad helped to build the Crescent Hotel. The family was able to watch it being built from start to finish, then see its transformation on Emma’s wedding day.
“A personal connection with our venue was really fun. Getting to have all our friends and family in that same space all together just made the whole weekend so special.”
One of Emma’s favorite moment’s from the day was her private dinner with Charles after the ceremony. “We were both still so anxious!” Away from their guests, the couple took a moment to be present and connect over their shared nerves and excitement.
Later on the dance floor, there were no nerves left to be seen only light-up cowboy hats, Taylor Swift inspired friendship bracelets, matching sneakers, and matching smiles. The energy of being surrounded by everyone they loved is what truly made the day unforgettable to Emma. “All of our favorite people in one room, one space, was really special.”
