After nearly (and for some on our team, more than) fifteen years of photographing weddings, there are a few heroines that we are consistently delighted to see influencing our brides outside of social media. As an extension to a photoshoot from years past, we asked Katie Hubbard from My Wedding Wardrobe how she might interpret the individual styles of these icons for many of the wedding-adjacent events that lead up to wedding day. Her meticulous eye distinctly selected each of these classic looks from present day fashion inspired by our icons.

Our first icon, Audrey Hepburn, is known for her effortless style and timeless elegance. Her fashion sense continues to inspire generations, transcending the boundaries of time.

Each outfit in this shoot was thoughtfully curated to evoke the essence of Hepburn’s style while providing inspiration for contemporary bridal occasions. Whether for a bridal luncheon, rehearsal dinner, or a secondary look for the wedding reception, these ensembles bridge the gap between classic cinema and modern bridal elegance.

The first ensemble is a tribute to Hepburn’s love for floral designs, as seen in her choice of gowns with delicate flower patterns. The modern twist involves a light, airy fabric and a pastel color palette, perfect for a daytime bridal event or luncheon. The intricate embroidery and subtle embellishments reflect the meticulous attention to detail that was a hallmark of Hepburn’s wardrobe.

The second look, an outfit inspired by Hepburn’s chic European flair was chosen. The clean lines and structured silhouette of the dress mirror Hepburn’s preference for simplicity and grace. The modern version includes off-the-shoulder elegance with minimalist accessories, channeling Hepburn’s ability to make a statement with understated sophistication.

Finally, the third look is a re-imagined version of Hepburn’s iconic little black dress, which has been re-envisioned for a daytime soireé or rehearsal dinner. This modern interpretation retains the classic elegance of the original but adds contemporary touches such as updated lines and textures for a look that feels both classic and fresh.

Each look pays a fitting tribute to Audrey Hepburn’s impact on fashion. Her style principles, which emphasize elegance, simplicity, and an aura of sophistication, remain relevant and continue to influence the way we think about bridal fashion today.

The magic of Hepburn’s style lies in its versatility and its ability to adapt to the person wearing it, making it personal and unique. This shoot captures that spirit, inviting brides to find inspiration in the past while making their own style statements. We can’t wait to share more inspiration from our other style icons coming to the blog soon!
