Madeline and Will first met on a night out with friends in Austin, Texas. “I was out in Austin with my friend, Annie, and her family. Will was next door having dinner and came over to say hi. He invited us to go out to another bar with him and his friends. When we met up with Will and his friends later, we instantly hit it off and talked the whole night. We went on a lot of fun dates over the next few weeks and the rest is history!” Madeline shared.
On August 15th, 2022, Will proposed to Madeline on a trip to Aspen, Colorado. “We had planned a trip to Aspen/Snowmass with friends and went to Colorado a couple days early before our friends joined us. We had a great dinner at Ellina and then walked around Aspen after. When we got to the base of the mountain, Will popped the question and I was so surprised! It was so special to get engaged (and then married) in our favorite place.”
Madeline began her wedding day in Snowmass, Colorado getting ready with her best friends at her family’s home. “I loved creating new memories there with friends and family.” she recalled. A highlight of the morning were the first looks Madeline shared with her father and her bridesmaids. None of Madeline’s bridesmaids had seen her dress, so before the first look all of the girls drew sketches as to what they thought her dress would look like and then presented them to Madeline. “I have the best poker face and didn’t give anything away until the first look. Everyone was so surprised and my maid of honor, Annie, was spot on with the dress design.” After first looks, it was off to Snowmass Chapel for Madeline and Will to be married!
Looking back on the ceremony, Madeline fondly remembers the moment of walking down the aisle. “Seeing all of our family and friends in one place with Will at the very end at the altar was my favorite moment. There’s something really special about having all of your favorite people in one place.”
The Swenson’s reception was held on the lawn of the Snowmass Club. Madeline and Will wanted to incorporate pops of color into their wedding day. They decided on a few of their favorites- pink, blue and orange. For the decor, Madeline worked with J. Lemons Events and her mom to create the perfect tented Colorado reception. “My mom, Sharon, owns an antique and gift store (The House of Wynne) and many elements from our wedding were from her store including the blue and white chinoiserie vases, antique English silver cake knife, floral cake stand, and picture frames on the cake table.” Madeline shared. The flowers at their reception were a crucial element of the decor for Madeline. “We worked with Alex with The Perfect Petal in Denver and they were amazing in helping bring our vision to life. Since we had a seated dinner, we wanted a really pretty, layered table setting with different textures, blue and white and colorful floral arrangements with large blooms.” To bring a touch of Tyler, Texas to Snowmass, Madeline worked with vendors from her hometown for elements of the decor. “We worked with a few local stores, including Ramsey Fritz Jewels (custom wedding earrings), The House of Wynne (items listed above), Texture (custom cake table skirt), and Chick Hill Design (cups and napkins for the weekend).”
After cocktail hour on the lawn, loved ones gathered under the tent for a seated dinner before dancing began. The Swensons took the dancefloor with friends and family following shortly after. The night went on with singing, dancing and celebrating before Madeline and Will made their grand exit amidst sparklers.
The night wasn’t quite over yet, the Swensons planned a late night after party for party goers to attend. “The after party was at the Black Saddle at The Snowmass Club with Naka-G providing the music.” At the entry, a spectacular balloon arch by Pop Aspen awaited. For the later portion of the evening, Madeline wore a sparkly mini dress that she paired with cowboy boots. “My after party dress is from & Other Stories. I wanted to wear something fun, sparkly, and non-traditional for the after party. I paired the dress with custom Miron Crosby cowgirl boots with my new initials monogrammed on the sides.”
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Swenson! We had a blast celebrating you in Colorado!
