An open mic night led high schoolers Grace VanLoh and Johnson Thweatt to one another. Years later, the engaged couple planned a wedding at home in the city their love began, Houston. “Home” for the bride is something straight out of a Bunny Williams coffee table book—which is fair—because the interior design-icon actually designed the bride’s family home. From upholstery to architecture, our team was overwhelmed with interior envy!
On wedding day, April 27, there was an excited peace running through the VanLoh home. Grace slipped in her Wayf gown with the help of her mother and sisters in the bedroom she grew up dreaming of this day. We took bridesmaid portraits in the formal living room, the maids pale blue dresses perfectly matching the Tiffany blue-painted walls. Grace carried a signature Lily of the Valley bouquet, a perfect accessory for the elegant, garden party ahead.
The wedding ceremony was held at Christ the King Prebyterian church and was elegantly understated. After they officiant announced the couple as husband and wife, we took portraits at the altar and then headed straight back to the VanLoh residence. Keely Thorne Events and Events in Bloom ensured a true “wow” moment the second guests entered. From delicate floral hanging on strings to the dreamy blue and white jars filled with rosemary topiaries, the clear-top tent, lined with ivy, felt like a midsummers night dream. Guests danced all night on the water-colored dance floor and played lawn games selected by the newlyweds.
To say the evening was magical is a massive understatement. We were thrilled to be apart and all garden parties from here on out may be ruined for us!
