Brooke and Grant met in high school in Houston where they were part of the same friend group. It was a classic friends-first story that didn’t turn into something serious until they both lived in Chicago after college. “When we first started dating, there was a healthy mix of ‘no way’ and ‘not surprised,’” Brooke shared.
At their wedding reception, Brooke and Grant danced with many of their shared high school friends to “Say a Little Prayer,” and Brooke thought about the movie she’d watched countless times in the years before she and Grant got together: My Best Friend’s Wedding.
Brooke wanted a wedding that was an elegant, pretty, and classic–but with “Brooke flair.” She drew inspiration from important women in her life, her mom and grandmother, “while making it feel very me,” she said.
As guests arrived in Austin for the wedding weekend, Brooke put her signature style on a Texas-themed welcome party. Neon boots, leather accents, and Texas wildflowers set the scene, while Brooke sported her grandmother’s white crocodile purse.
Brooke filled each wedding event with different themes, colors, and experiences. The Texas welcome party made way for the classic white wedding, accented with bursting floralscapes from Avant Garden. Brooke’s Monique Lhuillier gown matched the tone and made a timeless, romantic statement. She wore her grandmother’s signature perfume as she and Grant exchanged rings that Brooke’s dad designed in their family jewelry store. But perhaps her most dapper bridal accessory was Benny the dog, who could not resist kissing the bride before she walked down the aisle.
Every time guests entered a room, they were greeted with a new Brooke vibe. They moved from the ceremony to the outdoor cocktail hour to the soft pink and gold reception with subtle, old-world flair. Brooke’s favorite part was watching her guests take in each new theme. “Seeing their reactions was the most exciting part!” she shared.
Of course, her favorite moments of the day were the ones she shared with Grant. “He would pull me aside and we’d look out at everything going on and say, ‘This is so fun and so exciting!’ We felt so grateful.”
The day ended at the after party, a glowing soiree with disco balls, fringed lamps, green velvet, and, and palm fronds. Affectionately known by friends and family as Brookie Cookie, it was only appropriate to offer cookie skillets to guests as a late night snack.
Through every wedding event, Brooke and Grant had a plan to stick together and experience it side by side. “We got to really dance the night away together, share conversations with people, and really feel the togetherness of us all in one place. We just had so much fun together!”
