Cathy and Cameron’s journey started in the lobby of a job interview. They were students at Elon University in North Carolina, both coincidentally interviewing in Dallas. A casual chat turned into a fateful reunion a few months later, when they ended up working five feet apart from each other at another job in Austin. Their first kiss was on December 14, 2019, a date that would come full circle as the one on which they said “I do” under the Texas stars.
Their winter wonderland wedding felt like summer weather for their East Coast friends and family who gathered at Arlington Hall. The couple’s nuptials took place after sunset amidst Christmas lights and luminous white florals, and guests sipped warm coffee as they made their way to the ceremony. The unique after-dark vows kicked off the festive reception to follow.
Cathy and Cameron made sure to carve out time just for the two of them with a first look and last dance. “We basically did not separate the whole day,” Cathy says with a smile. That sense of presence appears in the photos, too. “When we’re dressed up and out together, we almost never remember to get photos,” she laughs. “I was excited to have pictures that we could frame and have around our house.”
The seating chart featured guests’ names on Christmas ornaments hanging from a tree, and a vintage-style champagne and berry-filled cake filled the entryway. The reception began with a live band before a DJ started spinning throwbacks for the after party. Cathy even spontaneously crowd surfed!
Her attire included a lace topper and veil from a Parisian designer and a gown from Iconic Bride. Cameron took the reins on planning the rehearsal dinner and welcome party, and much of the couple’s wedding details were a pleasant surprise to their parents, who were able to take a step back and relax throughout the planning process.
Just two days later, Cathy and Cameron were off on their South African honeymoon, scrolling through their wedding photo previews in the airport to relive the magic. The couple hopes to throw a big anniversary party in 10 or 15 years. As she puts it, “I don’t want to only have one wedding, I want to do it all over again!”
