Carilynn and Ben’s love story began at Southern Methodist University, where they met as student athletes, Ben on the golf team and Carilynn on the equestrian team. When it came time to plan their wedding, the couple envisioned a classic celebration with modern Texas flair.
The festivities began with a welcome party at the iconic Crescent Club in Dallas. Embracing the dress code, “Texas Cocktail,” guests, many traveling from the East Coast, arrived in boots, hats, and high spirits, ready to celebrate the couple affectionately dubbed “Bennilynn.”
The wedding ceremony took place at Perkins Chapel at their shared alma mater. The service was led by a cherished family pastor from Virginia, who had been a part of many meaningful moments in Carilynn’s life. Carilynn wore a stunning Monique Lhuillier gown, complete with a custom topper from Warren Barrón. For Ben, watching her walk down the aisle was the highlight of the day. Describing her as a classic Southern Belle, he shared, “She just looked so beautiful and elegant. That’s definitely the memory I’ll never forget.”
The celebration continued at the historic Belo Mansion, chosen for its historic charm, a nod to Carilynn’s Virginia roots. The couple made their grand entrance through a lush floral arch designed by Bella Flora. “The floral design felt so us,” said Carilynn.
The theme was echoed in the florals, the invitation suite, and our wedding crest. The couple’s custom crest featured a horseshoe and golf clubs, symbolizing their college sports and shared journey. Guests enjoyed a creative seating display: a “Lucky in Love” horseshoe wall where guests found their escort cards.
Crème de la Crème Cake Company crafted a towering wedding cake, which the couple cut before sharing a toast with champagne flutes passed down from Carilynn’s parents’ wedding.
The couple and their loved ones danced the night away to the lively sounds of Emerald City Band. The celebration then transitioned to a vibrant after-party in the Belo’s second ballroom, decked out in red and blue SMU colors with a sparkling blue dance floor. Carilynn changed into a stunning Alice + Olivia dress and custom Miron Crosby boots embroidered with the couple’s initials and wedding date.
To top it all off, Carilynn’s parents had two unforgettable surprises. First, a surprise appearance by Peruna, the beloved SMU mascot, which brought cheers and nostalgia. And finally, the couple made their grand exit in Carilynn’s mom’s 1964½ navy blue Mustang, shipped from Virginia just for the occasion.
