Any eye that beheld Kate and Tommy’s Seaside wedding would sense that the affair was both a celebration and a homecoming. Kate always knew where she wanted to get married. As a little girl, visiting her grandparents in Seaside, she always loved the charming Chapel they’d pass on their walks. She’d wish: “I want to get married here someday.” And that’s exactly what she and her beau, Tommy, did.
The venue was more than just a place—it was a reflection of Kate’s summers spent with family and reconnections with Tommy while dating long distance. Of the 170 wedding guests who would attend, only few lived there. But, the family wanted guests to feel the magic of Seaside. The crab cakes, key lime pie, and ice cream from a local creamery were all hand-picked treasures that they’d share with anyone who came to visit.
As for Kate’s desired aesthetic; the perfect blend of classic sophistication and a touch of modern chic. Honoring the beachy setting being filled with local flair—elegant, traditional, and unmistakably Kate. “If they opened the chapel doors and it wasn’t pink, they’d think they were at the wrong wedding,” her mother, Molly, laughs. As they planned, they chose romantic hues, a ribbon motif, and florals to mirror her signature style.
Kate spent the morning of her wedding day getting ready with the closest women in her life. In Kate’s trademark color, pink, the women laughed, shared mimosas, and exuded glamour and fun with help of Rolland’s Beauty Bar. Kate was in her element. “My mom says I was born with a bow on my head,” Kate shares. Dressed in a dazzling Monique Lhuillier gown and Manolos, her hair swept up in a glamorous updo, and wearing a veil borrowed from her God-sister, Kate’s final bridal look left those who loved her most breathless.
As she stood outside with the bridesmaids and groomsmen before the ceremony, her lifelong friend Claire said, “Kate, look. That was us so many times. And now it’s our turn.” They had spent childhood years in Seaside watching weddings at the Chapel from a distant ledge, and now others watched from that same spot.
After weeks of worrying about the little things like napkins, monograms, and the weather–Kate let it all go when the wedding arrived. Her friends noticed her calm and unwavering certainty that marrying Tommy was the easiest decision she’d ever made.
