At Marina Park, a grand tented reception awaited newlyweds Kate and Tommy. Pink roses framed the tent’s entrance and fountained from tables, their perfume mixing with the salty air. Even the sunset understood the assignment, casting the tent in a glow of pink and gold.
Kate wanted the reception to blend her family’s Southern roots with her own (and Tommy’s) Los Angeles upbringing. Timeless and classic, but with modern touches. A checkered dancefloor under a halo of roses. A rattan lamp next to a scripted monogram.
Kate celebrated all her birthdays growing up with a marble cake, so naturally, the wedding cake was a tower of marbled decadence. Tommy’s groom’s cake was key lime pie, his favorite dessert and a Bud and Alley’s local classic.
As they danced the night away to a live band, the dance floor was full from the first note to the last. Of course, the party didn’t end when the band stopped playing. A glittery after party awaited with details from Kate’s Los Angeles roots: with street tacos, churros, and a DJ spinning “I Love LA.” They served another favorite, Blue Mountain Ice Cream.
Behind this flawless execution of her vision was a village—planners, florists, family, and even Kate’s godmother, who quietly took care of the family home while the whirlwind wedding preparations unfolded. And of course, there was John Cain and our team, who started as vendors and left as old friends. “I feel like he’s a friend for life,” Molly says.
The morning after the wedding was a sweet epilogue. Guests turned up at the Adams house to enjoy a coffee cart as well as the family’s favorite donuts from Donut Hole and biscuits from Cowgirl Kitchen. The house was full of love and happy chaos. Whether on the porch or in the house, they cherished the time with everyone around getting to debrief and simply relive their favorite moments. Even the family dog, Pearl, joined the festivities. It was the perfect goodbye to a magical wedding season.
