In late 2019, Kelly and Alex met just after she moved to Nashville through a mutual friend. They dated for a few years before Alex popped the question the day after her 29th birthday. “We hadn’t done much to celebrate, but Alex told me he had a surprise for me and he drove me to our favorite park, Percy Warner. It is where we always take our dogs for a walk. He blindfolded me so I wouldn’t know where we were going. When I took my blindfold off he was on one knee and I said “yes”! He had set up all these beautiful flowers, candles and pictures of us in one of the picnic shelters. We popped champagne and then a party bus full of both our families showed up which was the best surprise. I had no idea my family was in town!” Afterwards they took the party bus to their favorite restaurant, Margot, and celebrated over dinner and wine!
Kelly tried on a variety of dress styles before she found the perfect dress for her. “I tried on ball gowns, beaded ones, lacy ones, you name it. I was super indecisive. A couple hours before my flight back to Nashville, I saw this dress in a magazine and called Warren Barron to see if they had it in store. They did, so I ran over, put it on and that was the one! I would describe my dress as simple, elegant and timeless. The designer is Romona Keveza and she uses the most beautiful buttery fabric that I fell in love with!”
Their decision to get married at the Dallas country Club stemmed from Kelly frequently visiting the club during her childhood. “Alex and I knew we wanted to get married outside so we looked at a lot of different outdoor venues in Dallas. Ultimately, we decided the event lawn at the DCC was the most beautiful. It also had sentimental value since I grew up going there with my family. We brought Alex’s family there to see it as well and they fell in love with it!”
Kelly and Alex wanted their wedding to feel warm and garden-like, so they opted for a unique color palette of orange, green, pink and yellow. When I asked Kelly about her theme for the day she stated that “Even though we were getting married in December, we didn’t want it to feel too much like winter or Christmas. My style is usually very subdued, I wear a lot of grays and blacks and I went totally opposite for our wedding! I really wanted flowers that were unique and something I hadn’t seen before. When I started discussing colors with branching out I gravitated towards warm pinks, beiges and greenery. Most of all I wanted a lot of texture and different types of flowers to make our chuppah really stand out. I loved how they added copper to make the whole vibe of the flowers very fall-like. I was so in love with the result, everything felt warm, inviting and very unique.”
During a private moment before the ceremony, Kelly and Alex met for a first-look in their ceremony space. It was an incredibly sweet moment with the photos capturing every emotion filled moment. “The first look was incredibly special for me and Alex. I had a lot of nervous energy that day and it all just went away at that moment. It felt exciting, happy and emotional all at the same time. Although it was a private moment, I loved when we turned around and some of our family was in the window watching us. The pictures from our first look are easily my favorite of the entire day.”
Following a beautiful ceremony out on the lawn of the Dallas Country Club, guests entered the ballroom to celebrate the newly-wed Mr. and Mrs. Abram! The evening was spent on the dance floor laughing, singing and dancing with loved ones. “One of my favorite memories from the reception was watching our families in the chairs during the hora. Alex’s family has done it many times, but it was a first for mine!” As the evening came to a close, Kelly and Alex shared a private last dance moment to “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne. “Everything goes by so fast that day and in those couple minutes we were able to slow down and really take in the whole night.”
