Laura and Alex were wed in late July at the Congressional Country Club. The pair met on Labor Day weekend 2013 while both attending Baylor University. Laura stated “I was a sophomore and Alex was a junior. We both ended up on our mutual friend, Landon’s, boat to go wakeboarding. I was actually supposed to be getting set up with a different person in the friend group, but Alex and I quickly connected over mutual interest in music and enjoyed each other’s sense of humor that day.” Laura and Alex ended up at the same party the following weekend and reconnected. “The next day, he picked me up and we went to brunch at a Waco classic, Cafe Cappuccino, where, much to our surprise, we had to be asked to leave after we realized four hours had passed and they were closing up.”
Their ceremony was held on the terrace of the club, overlooking the perfectly manicured golf course. The aisle was decorated with beautiful blue and white flowers. At the altar stood two great flower arrangements of hydrangeas and roses.
After being pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Horkowitz, guests joined the newlyweds in the ballroom dressed in white for an evening of cocktails and dancing. Laura and Alex are music lovers, so a good playlist was essential for their reception. “Music is very special for Alex and I, as he is a great singer and musician and he has played music for me throughout our lives together.” Onyx played funk music and classic country to gather guests out on the dance floor. Festivities culminated with Laura and Alex packing into the back of a vintage getaway car and cuddling up as they made their grand exit.
