The countdown to Christmas is on! What better way to get in the holiday spirit than to recap Jordan and Blake’s beautiful and festive wedding at the DCC.
Going into wedding planning, Jordan was open to getting married in any season, but to escape the Texas heat, Mr. and Mrs. Welsh decided on a winter wedding. Jordan shared, “By the end of planning I was very shocked I hadn’t always wanted a Christmas wedding because it was just SO magical. We exited the ceremony to Joy to the World and that made having a Christmas wedding just perfect. We also got to incorporate fun Christmas details into paper products like cards that said “it’s beginning to look a lot like the Welshes” on my bridesmaids PJ’s and napkins that said “to all a goodnight’”
Jordan’s thoughtfulness in each and every detail was a beautiful expression of sentiment come to life. As a nod to her parent’s, Jordan chose to have her ceremony at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, the same place her parents were wed on June 18th, 1994. Jordan and Blake even recreated the same portrait her parents took post-ceremony down the aisle at Highland Park Presbyterian Church! Another special detail from the ceremony is that the pastor who married Jordan and Blake is the same pastor that baptized her as a baby. His daughter sang at her baptism and at her wedding!
Reception festivities followed at the DCC, where Jordan’s parents celebrated their wedding reception as well. Inside, the ballroom was decorated in crisp winter whites and Christmas trees. A color palette of silver and blue graced the room, with elements of green woven into the details. Guests found their seats based on the escort cards hanging from the Christmas trees at the entryway to the ballroom. For an extra hint of holiday spirit, specialty cocktails were passed out to party-goers before dinner began. “Blake, being from Wisconsin, loves old fashioneds so we did that for him, then my drink was a white cranberry cosmopolitan! They threw some rosemary springs and sugared cranberries into those for more festivity and offered them both as shooters in cute little glasses and actual martinis!” Jordan shared.
After dinner, toasts were given and dances were held, just before it was time to cut the cake. Fancy Cakes by Lauren created a gorgeous all white eight tier cake with cascading flowers down the front. Cake cutting was followed by a special champagne cheers. “Our champagne flutes were my parents from their wedding day. They were engraved with their monogram and wedding date, and my mom gifted them to us during our engagement then added our wedding date and monogram to the other side. Same thing with the cake knife! We decided we are going to keep the tradition going down the blade with our kids someday. It’s monograms and wedding dates. Blake and I are both very close with our families so having such special family keepsakes means a lot to us!”
Guests gathered around the newlyweds out on the dance floor to dance the rest of the night away. To go with the theme, Santa cowboy hats and Christmas light glowing necklaces were distributed for guests to sport. The energy was high as the saxophonist and trumpeter joined the party on the floor and Jordan was lifted into the air for crowd surfing!
As the room cleared out for the Welshes private last dance, Jordan switched into her second look of the night, a long sleeve tweed mini dress from Tootsies. “I knew I wanted a very Jackie Kennedy vibe to at least one of my outfits and it felt like such a fun addition of sparkle too! I loved it so much.” Jordan expressed.
Mr. and Mrs. Welsh shared their final dance before their grand exit amidst rose petals. They hopped into the back of their vintage getaway car before taking off in a tunnel of sparklers.
What an amazing weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Welsh! Jordan looks back fondly on her experience working with a team of vendors that made her day memorable. “We absolutely loved every single vendor we had the privilege of working with. One of my best friends from high school did our graphic design (she did everything except our invitations and save the dates) so that was really fun and special to work with her for my wedding!! We LOVED Eden and the day could not have happened without her. Also, Junior was so incredible and planning with him was super fun.”
