No fall dinner is complete without a long table centered with abundant, garden bounty. Place this table in the midst of provincial oak and you have yourself an unforgettable evening ideal for giving thanks. Last summer, John and Brittany returned from a wedding planned by Matthew Robbins Design set at Le Mas des Poiriers (you can see it here in Brides). If you have followed us the past year, you have seen the journey of inspiration Provence provided for our whole team— it all began at a rehearsal dinner set al fresco at La Bastide de Gordes and continued with a wedding dinner set amidst the fragrant pear orchards of @ProvencePoiriers.
Whether you dine on fine china or paper plates this Thanksgiving, family-style dining set outdoors (weather permitting) feels imperative and somewhat nostalgic. I like to think the first Thanksgiving was this way—a gathering of people, from all different places, seated with no separation, gathered in gratitude for a season of abundant harvest. So now matter how you take your potatoes (mashed, whipped, with or without chunks), I hope you gather, feast, and toast all together in a space that stirs your spirit.
