“I let John loose up there!” laughed designer Melissa Lacy when discussing John’s office. As the founder of John Cain Photography and a creative mind, it is important that John enjoy his surroundings day-in and day-out. Most of the W. Lovers Lane studio carries a fresh green and blue palette, but John’s office uniquely carries a Ralph Lauren-esque masculinity. John’s father passed down the antique wooden desk (which centers the room) along with the fox hunt painting encircled by beloved Mottahedeh blue and white china. Crucial to the office was finding the “perfect plaid”. Melissa brought in almost one hundred different plaids to consider, but none ended with a selection. Fortunately, a lost swatch found at the bottom of Melissa’s purse ended up being “the one”! It was the perfect touch of color to bring the office together.
John was inspired by a hexagonal ceiling he had previously seen so he confidently persuaded the detail. While Melissa mentioned her apprehension due to the lower ceilings, the result ended with a true “wow” factor for all that enter. The result: a refined, sophisticated show-stopper.
